Chantel Alert Terms & Conditions

Last updated September 29, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Chantel Alert: the mobile app (public), the Community Publisher Portal (verified Business, News, and Public Agency organizations), and the Authority admin dashboard (government agencies issuing Alerts). By using any part of the Service, you agree to these Terms.

What the Service does

Chantel Alert distributes public safety Alerts (including AMBER-style missing person notices) issued by verified government authorities, and hosts Community content published by verified Business, News, and Public Agency organizations. The mobile app itself does not require an account to receive Alerts, read Community content, or submit a tip.

No guarantee of delivery or completeness

Push notification delivery depends on your device, network conditions, and third-party services (Apple, Google, Expo) outside our control. We do not guarantee that every Alert or Community post will reach you, or that it will arrive without delay. Do not rely on the app as your sole source of emergency information; follow the guidance of local authorities and other emergency channels as well.

Acceptable use

You agree not to submit false tips, impersonate an authority or organization, attempt to access accounts or data that aren't yours, interfere with the Service's operation, or use the Service for any unlawful purpose. Submitting a knowingly false tip about a missing person or emergency may itself be a criminal offense under applicable law. The bug report / support conversation feature is for reporting genuine problems with the app and communicating with us about them; you agree not to use it to submit abusive, harassing, or knowingly false reports.

Authority accounts

Alert-issuing Authority accounts are individually provisioned to government agencies (police, army, and other authorized bodies); there is no public registration path for this capability. Authorities are responsible for the accuracy of the Alerts they publish and for keeping their account credentials and second factor confidential.

Community Publisher accounts and organizations

Businesses, news organizations, and public agencies may apply to publish Community content through the Publisher Portal, which is a separate application from the mobile app and from Authority accounts; no organization, however verified, is granted the ability to send emergency Alerts.

  • Application review. News Organization and Public Agency applications are reviewed by Chantel Alert before verification; approval is not automatic or instant, and we may reject or request more information for an application at our discretion.
  • Accuracy of organization information. Your organization's name, description, contact details, and logo must accurately represent a real organization you are authorized to represent. Impersonating another organization or a government body is prohibited and may be reported to relevant authorities.
  • Uploaded media, including logos. You are responsible for any logo or media you upload. You must own it or hold rights to use it, and it must not contain unlawful, infringing, or misleading content. We may reject or remove media that violates this.
  • Roles and members. Organization Owners and Admins are responsible for who they add as members and for the role (Owner, Admin, Editor, Viewer) each member is given, since a member's role determines what they can publish or change on the organization's behalf.
  • Published content. Organizations are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the posts they publish. Content must not be misleading, must not use language or formatting designed to resemble or be mistaken for an official emergency Alert, and must comply with applicable law.
  • Two-factor authentication. Publishing-capable roles at News and Public Agency organizations must complete a fresh MFA step-up immediately before publishing, in addition to their regular login. You are responsible for keeping your authenticator and any backup codes secure.

Moderation, suspension, and removal

We may remove or unpublish a Community post, reject a logo or other media, or suspend an organization's ability to publish, at our discretion, including for violations of these Terms, misuse of the platform, or content that risks confusing Community material with an emergency Alert. A suspended organization's records (profile, prior posts, membership) are retained, not deleted, unless you separately request deletion. We aim to communicate the reason for a suspension where practical, but are not obligated to give advance notice before taking action necessary to protect the Service or the public.

Sponsorship and Featured Placements

A sponsorship inquiry sent through the Service is a request to start a conversation, not a binding commitment by either party; actual sponsorship terms, if any, are agreed separately. A Featured Placement is a boost that surfaces a Community post more prominently; it is always visibly labeled and never converts Community content into an Alert or grants any Alert-issuing capability. We may decline, modify, or end a sponsorship or Featured Placement at our discretion.

Paid plans and billing

Some publishing features may be offered under a paid organization plan. On Android, plan terms (price, billing cycle, cancellation) are presented by Google Play before you subscribe, and payment is processed by Google Play Billing under Google Play 's own terms; Chantel Alert never collects or stores your payment card or Google account payment credentials. Subscriptions are managed through Google Play, including cancellation. A small number of organizations that subscribed before this app moved to Google Play Billing may still have an existing subscription processed by PayPal under PayPal's own terms; no new PayPal subscriptions are being accepted.

Intellectual property

The Chantel Alert name, branding, and app design belong to Chantel Alert. Content published by Authorities or Community organizations belongs to the organization that published it; by publishing through the Service, an organization grants Chantel Alert the right to display, transmit, and notify users about that content as part of operating the Service.

Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chantel Alert is not liable for damages arising from missed, delayed, or inaccurate Alerts or Community content, from reliance on a tip or post submitted by another user or organization, or from third-party services (push delivery, payment processing, external links) the Service depends on or links to.

Termination

You may stop using the mobile app at any time by uninstalling it, or request deletion of a Publisher Portal account at chantel-alert-publisher-portal.vercel.app/delete-account, which does not require signing in first. Submitting a deletion request starts a review process rather than an instant deletion; see the Account deletion section of our Privacy Policy for what may be deleted and what may be retained. We may suspend or terminate access to any part of the Service, for any account, for violation of these Terms or to protect the integrity of the Service.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Antigua and Barbuda, regardless of the country from which you access or use the Service. This section, and any dispute-resolution or liability terms above, are general statements, not legal advice; organizations with specific legal questions about these Terms should consult their own counsel.
